Hi All!
Anita and April are looking forward to the cruise and meeting everyone! The cruise is officially called "Kris Brown's 4th Annual 70th Birthday Cruise." Even if you don't know Kris - you will know her by the end of the cruise :) We have a few other birthdays to celebrate that week too!

BOARDING DAY - AUGUST 13, 2023
In the past, we would all wear matching T-shirts on the first day to recognize each other. The prices have gone up significantly on shirts and postage, so last year we all wore red flannel shirts. Everyone bought their own and you can find them through Walmart, Amazon, etc... for under $20.
This year, we've opted for yellow flannels. If you don't like yellow, I apologize. You don't have to do it, of course, but it sure makes it easier to find the others in our group! Feel free to bling it up. A few of the gals were talking about moose hats or headbands. Feel free to do whatever you want to do - just have fun!! I will make nametags. Please try to wear your nametags during the cruise :) It makes it so much easier for people like me who can't remember names.
ROOM NUMBERS
I will not be handing out a list of room numbers. Not everyone wants their room number shared and if someone loses the list on the ship, it's not good for a stranger to find it. Please feel free to exchange room numbers with your new friends!
GROUP PICTURE
We are lucky enough to have a wonderful photographer in our group, Karmen Henry. She has generously offered to take a group photo. We will have to figure out the time and location once we get on the ship, so we will try to get the word out.
COCKTAIL PARTIES ON THE SHIP
There will be 2 cocktail parties.
The first one will be a "Meet and Greet" on Monday, 8/14 from 3 PM to 5 PM
The second one will be "Aloha in Alaska" on Friday, 8/18 from 3 PM to 5 PM. It will be hosted by Shari Kreitz and Cindy Wiseman. Feel free to wear a Hawaiian shirt, muu muu, etc...
Both will be in the "Take 5" Jazz Lounge
DINING ROOM
Dinner will be at 5:20 every evening in the Ketchikan Dining Room. You don't have to come to dinner - but please try to make it the first night so we can get acquainted. You can wear the yellow flannel into the dining room.
If you don't like something you're served, whether it's too well done, etc.. please just order something else! They don't care. Really! Don't be shy! That's kind of the point of a cruise. If you're still hungry after a meal - order something else. Order 2 desserts.
Go get an ice cream. Head upstairs for pizza. You get my drift :)
EXCURSIONS
Hopefully, you've set up an account online and booked your excursions by now.
MEETUP SPOTS ON THE SHIP
We usually try to set up a place for people to meet up. We've chosen the Good Spirits Lounge on Deck 5 and The Seaview Bar out by the pool on Deck 16. Things might change - but that's the plan for now. If you're looking for others to hang out with, give those places a try. On our last cruise, a lot of people hung out in the buffet and played games, so hopefully there will be a place to congregate and play. If you don't know anyone, pull up a chair and play!
FORMAL NIGHTS
Here is the "official" answer from Princess:
https://www.princess.com/learn/faq/pre-cruise/what-to-pack-for-a-cruise/?accordion=clothing-recommendations
THAT BEING SAID.... You will rarely see a tux or formal gown on a cruise nowadays. If you like to dress up, then go for it! Personally, I just wear something black and stretchy and comfortable. I've seen men dress in slacks and "nice" shirt - no tie or jacket - on formal nights and nobody's going to bat an eye!
